Appearance:
The Wendigo is said to be much larger than the average human. It has been described as gaunt and emaciated, with deeply sunken eyes, boney limbs, protrusive joints, thin lips and ash-grey, purulent skin.
Purpose/Role:
- Either a man-eating, forest-dwelling creature or a malevolent spirit who invades human bodies and drives them to commit monstrosities
- Carries out, or incites others to carry out heinous acts, such as cannibalism, incest, murder, environmental destruction and relentless avarice
- Model for a psychiatric condition known as Wendigo Psychosis, whose sufferers experience cannibalistic cravings
